Our tour to Holland and Belgium was only for a weekend, as most of our GI tours were. Along the canals of Amsterdam were charming houses side-by-side where folks dressed in clothing of their ancestors. I especially remember the ladies who were seated on the brick walkways making bobbin lace. Their fingers flew as they flipped the many bobbins attached to threads to create beautiful lace. Of course, we saw windmills, wooden shoe makers, and the market where Edam cheese was made. My favorite reminder of our trip was the photo we had taken in Dutch costumes.
